Xtreme Adventure

Educational Public Programs for july 2021

Pre-registration is required for all programs. Registration for July programs is available online beginning 9:00am on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. Online registration ends 24 hours prior to the start of a program. Pending availability, enrollment may still be possible by calling 908-722-1200 ext.5002.

Masks are optional for fully vaccinated individuals. Unvaccinated individuals are encouraged to wear masks and practice social distancing. Do not attend a program if you are not feeling well, are exhibiting any symptoms of COVID-19, have been in close contact of a person with a confirmed case of COVID-19, or have traveled internationally in the last 14 days.

For programs listed as ‘All Ages’, children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a registered adult. Dress for the weather and wear waterproof boots for all in-person programs.

CANCELLATIONS (by us): Programs are sometimes cancelled due to low enrollment or weather conditions. You will be notified by phone and given an option of a credit or a full refund.

CANCELLATIONS (by you): The Somerset County Park Commission will refund program registration fees if notified a minimum of seven days prior to the start of the program.

Wild for Blueberries!

The search is on for the swamp’s superfruit & hopefully we won’t be too late! Learn how to identify wild blueberries, which animals enjoy them, and, of course we will taste test these sweet superstars!

Calling all tots! Leave the stroller behind and join a Naturalist for a walk on the trails of Lord Stirling Park. Explore the natural world around you by using all of your senses! You will be surprised to find out how much fun you can have outside!

Moths and Fireflies

What do you call a female moth that just laid eggs? A MOTHer. Join a Naturalist for a hike after dark and enjoy a special night of blacklighting to see a fascinating array of moth species. We will also take a short hike to look for fireflies.

A parent’s job is never done, even if you are a bird! Let’s take a walk on the trails to search for birds and their nests. Games and a craft will help us learn.

Nature Hike at East County Park
(Adult)
Join a Naturalist to take a hike at one of Somerset County Park Commission’s newest parks and spend some time outside enjoying nature. Wear hiking boots, dress for the weather, and bring binoculars if you have them. Hike may be strenuous at times. Participants will meet at East County Park, 40 Reinman Road, Warren, NJ 07059

Bat Walk at Natirar Park NEW PROGRAM

Building Hours: Sun. 9am-5pm, Mon-Fri. 1pm-5pm, Sat. closed
Exhibits close at 4:30pm.
Registration is accepted 9am-4:30pm daily.
The building is closed on Holidays.
Trails are open dawn to dusk daily but closed on Deer Management days as scheduled.
