BASKING RIDGE, NJ - The Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center at 190 Lord Stirling Road in Basking Ridge has scheduled the following Naturalist-led programs to help children and adults enjoy the wonder and the beauty of nature as summer approaches in Somerset County. The Environmental Education Center provides many entertaining and educational programs for children and adults year around.
CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS
Tuesday, June 26 from 10:30 A.M. to 12:00 Noon
Children ages 4 to 6 will search the gardens and trails with a Naturalist for
Unique colors in nature following by a the opportunity to paint a
most colorful picture.
Fee is $9 per person.

Tuesday, June 26 from 10:30 A.M. to 12:00 Noon
Children ages 7 to 9 will search old, gnarled tree stumps and craggy tree
bark in search of weird and wonderful creatures.

Wednesday, June 27 from 10:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
Children ages infant to 5 with a parent will tour the swamp to discover the
different animals and plants that thrive in the environment before making a swamp craft to take home.
Fee is $10 per pair & $5 per additional child..

FAMILY & ADULT PROGRAMS
Monday, June 25 from 7:30 A.M. to 7:00 P.M.
Join a Naturalist for a day on the river with your canoe or kayak.
Destination will be announced the day of the trip.

Tuesday, June 26 from 7:30 P.M. to 9:00 P.M.
Family and friends of all ages will join a Naturalist to explore the trails of
the Great Swamp at dusk. Theme of the walk is "Owls."

Sunday, July 1 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M.
Prepare for EEC river trips with an introductory class on basic paddling techniques, safety, and handling a canoe in and out of the water.

Blue "BOBO (Buy One – Bring One) Fridays" bins now are located at the Environmental Education Center and Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge, as well as at the Somerset County Park Commission headquarters at North Branch Park in Bridgewater. The public is invited to drop off canned food or personal-care items for donation to Somerset County food banks.
