Environmental Stewardship Coordinator, Somerset County Park Commission Environmental Education Center, Basking Ridge NJ - Coordinate and produce environmental, historical, and cultural events, programs, and exhibits.  Oversee land management of 500 acres of parkland and make recommendations to Manager on environmentally sensitive issues such as invasive plant species removal, meadow management, and habitat restoration.  Qualifications:  Bachelor of Arts or Science degree from an accredited college or institution of higher education in the field of life science, ecology, earth sciences, natural resource management, or other natural history curricula.  Degrees in other fields acceptable provided applicant has experience, training or supplementary education in life sciences.  Minimum of three years’ experience in natural resource management, research and/or field techniques.  Thorough knowledge of environmental and ecological concepts and land management issues; ability to work with the public involving people of all ages; ability to utilize computers; basic knowledge of handling administrative matters in the absence of direct supervision; strong planning, designing, and organizational skills. Work also performed in the field in varying weather conditions and habitats.  Ability to lift, move, and/or transport materials that weigh up to 30 pounds.  Ability to adjust work schedule as required for the efficient operation of facilities and programs.  Must have a valid driver's license.  Must have, or be willing to obtain, a NJ pesticide license.  $40,800 plus benefits.  To apply call (908) 722-1200 ext. 5239 or email dmumgelter@scparks.org

OFFICE ASSISTANT – GREEN KNOLL TENNIS CENTER 
The Somerset County Park Commission is accepting applications for an office assistant at the Green Knoll Tennis Center located in Bridgewater, NJ. Applicants must be available to work up to 28 hours per week, be flexible in working morning, afternoon, or evening shifts, weekdays and possible weekends, possess strong communication skills, be able to use Microsoft Word and Excel, be reliable, and able to enforce rules and policies. Candidates must be available to work March through October. Rate of pay is $10.00 per hour.

LIFEGUARDS – WARRENBROOK POOL
The Somerset County Park Commission is accepting applications for lifeguards at the Warrenbrook Pool located in Warren Township, NJ.  Applicants must have Lifeguard Certification and be CPR/AED Certified. Applicants must be available to work various shifts, possess strong communication skills, be reliable, and able to enforce pool rules and policies. The Warrenbrook Pool operates Saturdays and Sundays beginning May 26, 2018 and seven days per week beginning June 23 through September 3, 2018.  The starting rate is $10.50 per hour.

LIFEGUARD – ENVIRONMENTAL EDCUATION CENTER
The Somerset County Park Commission is accepting applications for a part-time lifeguard at the Environmental Education Center located in Basking Ridge, NJ. Lifeguard must work independently at a private pool while overseeing a maximum of 30 swimmers per swim session. Lifeguard is responsible for general safety and rescue. Lifeguard must participate in two mandatory training sessions.

Applicant must have Lifeguard Certification and be CPR/AED Certified. Applicant must be available to work weekday afternoon shifts for a maximum of 40 hours combined in July and August. Applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have two seasons of experience as a lifeguard. Applicant must possess strong communication skills, be reliable, and able to enforce pool rules and policies. Position is available July – August, 2018. The starting rate is $10.50 per hour.

SEASONAL NATURALIST/PADDLESPORT ASSISTANT
The Somerset County Park Commission is accepting applications for a seasonal naturalist/paddlesport assistant to assist with canoe, kayak, and stand up paddle programs and provide participants with answers to inquiries regarding the environment, ecology, and other related issues as well as basic nature interpretation.

Applicant must have Bachelor of Arts or Science degree from an accredited college or institution of higher education, or current enrollment in the field of natural sciences, parks and recreation, or education. Degrees in other fields acceptable provided applicant has experience, training or supplementary education in life sciences. Strong paddling skills and ability to teach in a compassionate manner. Strong leadership abilities in outdoor situations; and ability to understand skill models, assess student skills, and devise tactics to guide students learning to more closely approximate models. Must complete a mandatory inhouse training program. Customer service experience and strong people skills. Basic computer knowledge. Creative approach to problem solving. Physically able to lift and load kayaks, canoes, and other paddlesport gear, and to perform water rescues. ACA certification desirable. CPR and First Aid Certification (In-house CPR and First Aid training available) Wilderness First Responder and Swift Water Rescue a plus. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Must be able to work a flexible schedule including long days, weekdays, and weekends. Possess a valid driver’s license and have a good driving record. Ability to drive a 12-passenger van. Applicants must be available to work June 4- August 31. Maximum of 25 hours per week.  $10.50 per hour.

SEASONAL NATURALIST/SUMMER SCIENCE PROGRAMS
The Somerset County Park Commission is accepting applications for a seasonal naturalist for summer science programs to develop and implement nature and science lessons and supervise children.  Summer Science Program Naturalists are also responsible for gathering supplies, leading hikes, and chaperoning field trips.

Applicant must have Bachelor of Arts or Science degree from an accredited college or institution of higher education, or current enrollment in the field of natural sciences, parks and recreation, or education. Degrees in other fields acceptable provided applicant has experience, training or supplementary education in life sciences. Bachelor of Arts or Science degree from an accredited college or institution of higher education, or current enrollment in the field of natural sciences, parks and recreation, or education. Degrees in other fields acceptable provided applicant has experience, training or supplementary education in life sciences. Experience developing, organizing, and conducting interpretive programs for youth preferred. Familiarity with trends in Environmental Education including 21st century skills preferred. Ability to attend a mandatory two-week training period in June, eight weeks of program sessions, and a post-camp clean-up week in August. First Aid and CPR certification will be included during training period. Lifeguarding certification a plus. Must be able to pass a criminal background check. Possess a valid driver’s license, and be willing to drive a 12- passenger van (AWESIM KIDS). $10.50 per hour.

SEASONAL MAINTENANCE WORKERS 
The Somerset County Park Commission is accepting applications for seasonal maintenance workers at various locations throughout Somerset County.  Experience with hand tools and landscaping equipment a plus. Applicants must be able to lift up to 50  pounds. Must be able to take written and oral direction from supervisory staff. Work week is Monday through Friday and some weekends and holidays. Must possess valid driver’s license. The starting rate is $10.00 per hour.

SEASONAL GREENS WORKERS 
The Somerset County Park Commission is accepting applications for seasonal greens workers at various golf courses throughout Somerset County.  Applicants must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.  Must be able to take written and oral direction from supervisory staff. Work week is Monday through Friday and some weekends and holidays. Must possess valid driver’s license. The starting rate is $10.00 per hour.

SEASONAL STABLE WORKERS 
The Somerset County Park Commission is accepting applications for seasonal stable workers at Lord Stirling Stable in Basking Ridge.  Must be able to take written and oral direction from supervisory staff. Must be able to work weekends and holidays.  The starting rate is $10.00 per hour.
