Educational Public Programs for july 2017

Let's Move The Environmental Education Center has partnered with the national Let's Move! initiative to fight childhood obesity by encouraging participation in outdoor activities and promoting healthy eating. Those programs are listed with the Let's Move! logo by the program titles.

Meet A Lot of Feet  Let's Move
(Ages 4-6)
In the Swamp, many of our animals have more than two, four, and six legs. Come find out whom they are and the important role they have in our ecosystem. Get ready to move fast because with all their legs they can out race you!

Xtreme Adventure: White Water Rafting  Let's Move
(Ages 13-16)
We're kicking up the 'xtreme' factor a notch for some class II+ bigtime whitewater fun! Bring along mom or dad (no more than two teens per parent) to share the thrills and chills with! We will raft the challenging and beautiful gorge section of the Lehigh River – spending five hours on the water, actively paddling. A quick 'grab-n-go' dinner stop is planned for on the way home.
$300 per pair/$150 per additional teen

Coyote Kids
(Ages 4-6)
Hoooooowl! Join our pack for a fun, five-day nature program full of outdoor hikes, live animals, hands-on activities, games, crafts, and water play! This program will take place rain or shine. Pack a snack and come prepared to be outside! This week's topic will focus on a different habitat each day. Explore the field, forest, swamp, and gardens!

Explore various hiking trails that will lead you to hidden waterfalls. Photograph, admire, and wade your way in for a swim!

(Ages infant-5 with parent)
A parent's job is never done, even if you are a bird! Let us take a walk around Lord Stirling Park to search for birds and their nests. Games and a craft will help us to learn.

The outside world is full of shapes—circles, stars, and squares. Let us go for a walk in the Swamp to find the shapes of nature in a flower, a tree, and the sky.

Xtreme Adventure: Hike and Swim  Let's Move
(Ages 13-16)
Hike a section of the most famous trail on the east coast, the
Appalachian Trail! Walk in the footsteps of numerous famous hikers while learning the proper technique for following trail markers. Be rewarded with a cool, refreshing swim at Crater Lake; a glacial lake at the top of the Kittatinny Ridge located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.

Calling all tots! Leave the stroller behind and join a Naturalist for a walk on the trails of Lord Stirling Park. Explore the natural world around you by using all of your senses! You will be surprised to find out how much fun you can have outside! Pre-registration is required.

Raindrops to Rainbows

Rainbows always seem to appear magically in the sky after a rainstorm! Join us as we explore how, when, and why rainbows form. We will experiment with the color spectrum and prisms as we discover the recipe for a rainbow.

Xtreme Adventure: Kayak  Let's Move
(Ages 13-16)
Travel to the New Jersey Pine Barrens and learn how to wet exit a kayak. Discover the proper kayak strokes, and put your skills to the test! While paddling, keep an eye out for wildlife and enjoy the scenery along the waterway! We will be sure to stop for a picnic lunch and swim!

Registration is accepted 9am-4:30pm daily.
The building is closed on Holidays.
Trails are open dawn to dusk daily but closed on Deer Management days as scheduled.
