Virtual Birding Identification Workshop: Spring Warblers
(Adult)
This program will take a look at the northeastern United States’ most iconic group of birds, the warblers!  Around 30 different warbler species pass through New Jersey in the Spring.  Learn field markings, behavior, and other identification tips for each species.

Growing a Green Thumb NEW
(All Ages; children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a registered adult)
Join our ‘green thumb’ Naturalist for an in-depth session on creating a great vegetable garden. Whether you will be planting containers or planting in the ground; learn tips about soil amendments, starting seeds, weed management, how to preserve your harvest, and companion planting. During a walk, observe nature’s strategies for healthy plants.

Forest Fitness
Get active with us! Walking outdoors is proven to help your wellbeing. Ditch the treadmill and join a Naturalist on the trails. This weekly walking group will walk continuously at a moderate pace with occasional breaks. Please be dressed for the weather; waterproof boots are strongly recommended.

Budding Naturalist
(All Ages; children under the age of 15 must be accompanied by a registered adult)
Join a Naturalist for a one-hour hike and view life in the park through their eyes as they share their knowledge and perspective of Lord Stirling Park. April shows off the spring beauty of the swamp! Each week a different Naturalist will lead your hike while focusing on various unique aspects of nature such as changes in nature, animals on the move, plants emerging, and much more. Boots and a camera are suggested.

Virtual Homeschool: Crayfish Kids
(Suggested grades K-4)
Each Wednesday morning join EEC Naturalists for an hour-long program about the natural world. Naturalists suggest themes for following up the classes with a walk at a natural area near you. Program content is guided by the Next Generation Science Standards.

Migration Monitoring NEW
(Adult)
Assist our Naturalists with an ongoing migration research project from the back deck of the Environmental Education Center (EEC). For two hours on select Saturday mornings, we will record what species, and their numbers, which pass over the EEC during migration. Throughout the program, we will be safely spread in designated spots on the observation deck. At the end of the spring season, if you have participated in the program, you will receive a compiled spring migration report.

In the springtime, woodland wildflowers are at their peak carpeting the forest floor with color in the dappled sunlight. Join a Naturalist for a leisurely walk at Lord Stirling Park in search of these spring beauties.

The building is open 9am-5pm daily.
Exhibits are open 9am-4:30pm daily.
Registration is accepted 9am-4:30pm daily.
The building is closed on Holidays.
Trails are open dawn to dusk daily but closed on Deer Management days as scheduled.
