Come and listen to a Naturalist read a story, relax in our comfortable library, and take a short walk. Story hour is a great way to spend some quality time with your young one while enjoying wonderful environmentally-oriented books. Pre-registration is required.

Come join us for this exciting weekend learning adventure. During each monthly session, we will hike, observe, interact with live animals, create crafts, and explore the Great Swamp. Each month's activities will be themed. Bring a water bottle and a snack and please be dressed for all kinds of weather.

Raritan Bay is an excellent place to spend the day birding! We will visit some of the following places: Hartshorne Woods, Shrewsbury River, Navesink River, Conaskonk Point, and/or Raritan Bay. Bring binoculars, lunch, and bundle up!

Join a weekly walking group and enhance your exercise regimen with Mother Nature! Improve your health, clear your mind, and enjoy nature as you traverse the level trails of Lord Stirling Park with a Naturalist as your guide. Leave cool, calm, and collected. Participants must be able to walk continuously at a moderate pace with occasional breaks. Bring a water bottle and a desire to leave your troubles behind. Comfortable, waterproof boots are a must in the swamp.
$15 for 3-day session per person

It is never too early to get little ones outdoors to experience the wonders of nature. This series will focus on developing their five senses through simple activities. Parents will share the excitement with their children during this special hour and return home with ideas to explore nature close to home.

KinderNats is a program designed and geared for children currently who love being outdoors. This afterschool series will get them outside to study science and explore the natural world. These Junior Naturalists will be engaged through hiking, games, and activities. Each week will focus on a different seasonal theme. Please be dressed for all kinds of weather.

Bring your little ones to the Environmental Education Center for fun science and nature programming. These two-and-a-half hour afternoon classes will enhance learning by going outside for hikes, hands-on activities, meeting live animals, and learning by experimenting. Each month has a different theme. Please send a small snack with your child. Please dress for the weather. Please register for only the Tuesday session or the Thursday session per month. Both monthly sessions cover the same material on a weekly basis.

Branch Brook Park Cherry Blossoms - New Program

(Adult)
Join Naturalists on a visit to the very first county park in the USA, established in 1895. This park is listed on both the National Register of Historic Places as well as the New Jersey Register of
Historic Places, and with more than 4,000 cherry trees blooming it is the largest display in the nation. This 360 acre park is waiting to be explored so dress for the weather, wear good walking shoes, bring drinks and a bag lunch.

Secrets in Somerset County – Bluebell Magic

Meet at the playground kiosk and head out for an exploratory hike with a Naturalist. Identify some local trees and search for early blooming wildflowers along the Raritan River. Hammond Museum and Japanese Stroll Garden - New Program

The Hammond Museum in North Salem NY is a place where the art and nature of the Eastern culture meets the art and nature of the Western culture. Partake in shinrin-yoku as we tour the Japanese Stroll Garden which was designed as an environment of natural beauty and tranquility, to delight the senses and refresh the spirit. Shinrin-yoku is the art of taking in the natural atmosphere to relax and invigorate the spirit. Wear good walking shoes, dress for the weather and bring a bag lunch and drinks.

The building is closed on Holidays.
Trails are open dawn to dusk daily but closed on Deer Management days as scheduled.
